The constitutional responsibility to raise a national army is in the purview of the National Legislature. However, the arm of government that has the oversight responsibility for the defense sector is the Ministry of National Defense. The immediate control of the Ministry is vested in the Minister of Defense, subject to the authority and direction of the President as Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia. Full Story
